Owned and run by Julia Hobson, a freelance mountain bike guide with years of experience of guiding for some of the most well-renowned bike guiding companies in Europe. From the Highlands of Scotland to the central and southern French Alps, Julia has guided guests from all over the world and gained a reputation as a friendly, professional, experienced and knowledgeable guide.

Along with her mountain bike guiding experience, Julia is a seasoned climber, mountaineer, backcountry skier, and qualified ski instructor and mountain leader, and brings elements of knowledge and experience gained from years of living and playing in the mountains to her guiding, to ensure clients are able to safely enjoy some of the best trail riding in the UK and Europe.

Julia is SMBLA qualified, BASP Outdoor First Aid certified, and licensed and insured by British Cycling as a Mountain Bike Leader. She is also one of a small number of British guides to hold a French Carte Professionnelle, allowing her the right to work in France as a mountain bike guide and instructor.

Her experience as a rider includes years of racing in the UK and worldwide in Downhill, XC, Marathon, and Enduro racing, as well as in MTB Orienteering and Adventure Racing. These races include the Megavalanche, and Trans Provence in France, the Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge, the NZ Enduro, Andes Pacifico in Chile, Cape Epic in South Africa, Yak Attack in Nepal, Breck Epic in Colorado, and Enduro World Series in NZ, as well as many UK race series.

But her true love lies in planning and undertaking multi-day trips and adventures. Some of these have included riding Lands End to John O’Groats off-road, the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt, the Tour of the Matterhorn, the Pennine Bridleway, the UK off-road Coast to Coast, and the GR5 from Geneva to Nice.

A self-confessed map geek, Julia has spent years riding and exploring every corner and trail of the areas she has found herself in, and her enthusiasm and passion for riding in wild places and sharing this love with others is unrivalled.

Julia has also been heavily involved in helping the growing women’s mountain bike movement in the UK, through her role as an ambassador for leading women’s bike brand, Juliana Bicycles, as well as with UK company Hope Technology, as one of their Hopetechwomen ambassadors, helping on women’s only rides and races.

In 2019, Endless Trails MTB merged with Ben Jones MTB and took over the Alpine trips formerly run by this company. Julia had known Ben since guiding together many years ago on the Trans-Provence holidays, and had worked as a guide on all of these trips since 2013. She was delighted to take over the reigns when Ben decided to step back to focus on other projects, and to continue the running of several well-established and hugely popular point-to-point trips through the Alps.

Endless Trails MTB currently offer UK single day guided trips, as well as bikepacking weekends in the Peak District and Lake District, and multi day mountain bike holidays in the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. Julia’s extensive knowledge of the trail network in these areas and many others, means custom trips can also be put together and individually tailored to suit the group, and ensure all are able to enjoy the incredible mountain biking opportunities in these areas.
